The History and Translation Network is an international network of scholars with a historical interest in translation and interpreting. Researchers and students of any institutional, geographical and disciplinary background with a historical interest in translation and/or interpreting are welcome to join and register on the Network’s website: historyandtranslation.net/join
The aims of the Network are:
- To enhance the visibility of translation and interpreting history both in translation studies and in other disciplinary areas, especially history.
- To promote interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration between all scholars with a historical interest in translation and interpreting, regardless of their disciplinary background.
- To organise and promote regular events on translation and interpreting history: conferences, workshops, seminars, etc..
- To generally explore forms of collaboration that can enhance our work as translation and interpreting historians: research projects, co-supervision of PhD’s, teaching exchanges, etc.
- To provide an informal venue in which translation and interpreting historians, and international/transnational historians, can interact and collaborate, and in which anyone can take part and propose initiatives.
The first official event organized by the Network will be an international conference held in Tallinn, Estonia, 25-28 May 2022. The inaugural meeting of the Network will be held during the conference.
