At the XII. “Symposium of Written Culture in the Baltics” in Tartu, September 17, Saagpakk presented the preliminary results of the study of translations into Estonian in the second half of the 19th century. Her paper compared bibliographies available about the given period and offered some statistical data. In the second half of the paper Saagpakk concentrated on the translations of Goethe and Schiller in the 19th century. She showed how the translations of these central authors of German literature were used to develop the local understanding of fiction.
